DESCRIPTION:Aslan Youth Ministries’ premier annual fundraiser\, Beauty and The Beach Run\, is a 5-mile race for women\, by women\, on the New Jersey Shore coastline with beautiful scenic views of the beach. The 5-mile race is exclusively for women and benefits Aslan Youth Ministries\, a non-profit organization founded in 1975 and headquartered in Red Bank\, NJ. Net proceeds benefit Aslan programs serving urban youth in Monmouth County\, NJ and their families. The event is held at Sandy Hook\, located in Highland\, New Jersey\, and features many amenities\, such as racing along the boardwalk with beautiful views. \n\nThe course for the Beauty and the Beach Run has an official USA Track & Field Measurement Certificate. Click here for course map & route.\n\nAslan provides after-school tutoring\, one-on-one mentoring with a caring adult\, character-building classes\, summer day camp services\, trauma-informed care\, and educational field trips and activities for children.  Unique to Aslan\, they offer door-to-door pick-up and drop-off service\, ensuring the safety and participation of each child. Aslan proudly boosts a 95% attendance rate and a 20% enrollment rate of children from former Aslan grads!  Aslan’s children are grade school through high school aged from Long Branch\, Red Bank\, Asbury Park\, and Neptune\, New Jersey. In addition\, Aslan has a full-service operation in Haiti offering a Medical Clinic\, educational sponsorship programs\, sewing school\, music school\, and food program. Aslan serves over 200 children and family services to several hundred families each year\, by providing clean water (newly installed clean water pumps)\, food\, medical care\, and emergency services. Over 500 individuals regularly volunteer their time and talents to serve as mentors\, tutors\, youth class teachers\, board members\, coaches\, office helpers\, bus drivers\, for Holiday gift programs and as Haiti volunteers.  Others provide valuable in-kind services in areas such as computer consulting\, and pro bono legal assistance.

SUMMARY:A Concert on the Liberty Pipe Organ
DESCRIPTION:We will debut the restored voice of the Liberty United Methodist Church’s 100 year old pipe organ with a concert featuring the nationally renowned organist\, Dr. Ruth Green.  Dr. Green will perform classical\, spiritual and gospel organ music on this treasured and historical instrument that belongs to the whole community in Liberty and\, indeed\, Sullivan County. \nRetired\, Dr Green was the organist for the St. John’s Congregational Church in Springfield MA and a Dean and Professor at Mount Holyoke College. Inspired through her travels and teachings in Europe and Africa\, she passionately believes in the transformative power of the arts and is a spokeswoman for the legacy of Negro Spirituals.  She is returning to the East Coast after a recent performance in Los Angeles. \nThis event is the second in a series of cultural events sponsored by the Liberty United Methodist Church and in support of the full restoration of Liberty’s pipe organ.  The 90 minute concert will begin at 4pm on Saturday\, February 18.  Admission is $5 per individual or $10 per family.  Individuals and families of all ages are welcome to join in this evening of soul stirring music.
